Paws Across Oswego County is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue based in Oswego, NY. PAOC is authorized New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to operate as a registered pet rescue. Registration No. RR0105.
Purpose
Paws Across Oswego County is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs and cats throughout Oswego County and beyond. We strive to create a safe and loving environment for every animal that comes through our doors, while educating our community about responsible pet ownership.
Our rescue fosters and adopts dogs in need, as well as provides support to the community through various programs. We are dedicated to:
Assist local animal shelters and DCOs by donations and voluntary services.
Promote responsible pet ownership through education and special programs.
Assist the local dog control officers and animal shelters find homes for adoptable companion animals.
Foster homeless animals, train, spay, neuter, provide all vaccinations, heart worm testing, worming, grooming, and finding the appropriate forever home for every animal in our care.

Kisses for Kevin
He was thin and missing most of his fur. The PAOC team battled with his skin issue and he had many trips to Cornell. Kevin soon became a favorite at PAOC with his happy smile and silly personality.
During this time Kevin became an advocate for responsible pet ownership. He quickly became favorite with our Facebook friends too!
Because Kevin would have to be an only pet in the home, and because of his ongoing health issues he never was able to find his forever home, but instead adopted us as his family. He loved to have his picture taken and poses like a pro, willing to wear silly costumes with such pride.
Kevin continued his work advocating for responsible pet ownership, He was even honored by the city with his own fire hydrant! His was a beloved community member.
In July 2020, heaven gained an angel. We will miss your perpetual smile and your joy in just being. Even in death you remind us to enjoy life, love everyone for who they are, and take the time to count our blessings. Kevin will always be a part of us, and we know that smiling face now has a new hat to wear as he greets all new comers in heaven. Kevin’s final resting place by his favorite dog park. We still say hello to him every day. Miss that wonderful boy.
Reading for Rescue

Reading for Rescue is a program started in 2013 by PAOC founders, Connie Evans and Marjorie Wentworth. Working with Tails and Tales Publishing, Connie and Margie collaborated to write children’s books that were both fun and educational.
The program has come a long way with 4 books total and a few furry mascots who help promote their stories. Charlotte and Sawyer each have their own book. All of the dogs featured in the books are former PAOC fosters who have been adopted into loving homes.
The authors and their subjects can often be found doing readings for schools, libraries, Girl & Boy Scout Troops, and anywhere kids can be found.
