About

Our Purpose

Paws Across Oswego County is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue based in Oswego, NY. PAOC is authorized New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets to operate as a registered pet rescue, Registration No. RR0105.

Our rescue fosters and adopts dogs in need, as well as provides support to the community through various programs. We are dedicated to:

  • Assist local animal shelters and DCOs by donations and voluntary services.
  • Promote responsible pet ownership through education and special programs.
  • Assist the local dog control officers and animal shelters find homes for adoptable companion animals.
  • Foster homeless animals, train, spay, neuter, provide all vaccinations, heart worm testing, worming, grooming, and finding the appropriate forever home for every animal in our care.

Our Fosters

All of our dogs are fostered at a local kennel, Paws & Effect Inc., whose donation covers all grooming, food, vitamins and care needed for each. We have no paid members, so be assured that all donations go directly to the medical care of our fosters!

Our fosters are let out into our fenced in area five times a day and all elimination is monitored and documented. They are fed only high quality foods twice a day.  Puppies or fosters who need to put on weight  are fed three times a day. Medications are monitored and documented. All fosters receive two wormings, heart worm pills and flea treatment once a month. Every foster is altered and tested for heart worm and Lyme disease. We also microchip all dogs before they are adopted to their new homes. We have wonderful volunteers that come in and walk, play with and help train either in the dog gym or in the dog park.

We work very hard to be sure all of our foster kids are happy, healthy, and well adjusted to be ready for their new families!
