Cooper is a 4 year old French bulldog who joined the PAOC family in April of 2024. This guy is as sweet as they come. Upon intake he was about 7 pounds underweight with a body condition score of 3.5/9. He was dehydrated, anemic, positive for Lyme disease, terribly infested with fleas and extremely hand shy- but absolutely adores being with people and loved on.

So far, his journey to a happy and healthy life has included hospital stays at both Tara Animal Hospital and VCA Colonial Animal Hospital where he received various medications, x-rays, blood test and underwent a sedated abdominal ultrasound, gastroduodenoscopy with biopsy and histopathology. But, we certainly were not surprised when he received the perfect patient of the week award from the VCA Colonial!

Answers we have at the moment include: gastric wall thickening (moderate to severe), diffuse enteropathy with hyperechoic, mucosal striations (peritonitis), focal area of erythema within the distal esophagus, duodenal mucosa was diffusely edematous and irregular with numerous pinpoint white foci, presumed to be dilated lacteals. Despite all of this, Cooper remains a friendly and affectionate dog who loves everyone he meets, and the feeling is always mutual!
Our little guy is currently being administered his medications and fed small meatballs of his prescription food every few hours in the hopes he begins to gain weight while we wait for biopsy results and he continues on his healing journey!
